Join our herbal community for a monthly gathering designed to begin your herbal training or practice the skills you've acquired in herbal medicine. Each class is unique and as different as the seasons they are taught in. We meet once a month on a Saturday for 4 hours beginning at 11:00am with a break for lunch. Everyday Herbs - January 11th
Learn to incorporate herbs into your everyday lives for health and healing. We'll learn the art of formulating tea blends, incorporating herbs into bone and vegan mineral broths as well as making delectable herbal condiments and snacks. Botanical Facial Serums & Skin Tonics - February 8th
Treat yourself to earthly medicines for skincare. Learn about the healing properties of a variety of botanicals including hydrosols (floral waters), carrier and specialty oils to make nourishing skin tonics and facial serums. Come away with a skin toner and facial serum you've made in class.
Wild Spring Tonics - March 8th
Springtime is when our wild greens are at their peak and we'll take full advantage of their medicine. We'll learn about Dandelion, Chickweed, Cleavers, Nettle and other wild medicines. Learn to extract and preserve there medicines as succus, vinegar acetums and food.
Using Herbs for Pain Relief - April 12th
In this class, we will learn about some specific applications for using herbs both internally and topically for addressing joint and muscle pain. We will learn why turmeric isn't for everyone discuss the specific indications of anti-inflammatory and analgesic herbs and their appropriate uses. We will also have hands-on experience making liniments, oils and salves for topical use which students will take home.
Herbs for the Spirit - May 10th
Flower essences are vibrational, energetic medicines used for mental/emotional and spiritual healing. In this class, we will learn to sit and listen to the messages our plant allies have to tell us and then create healing medicines to capture their essence.
Distilling Aromatics - June 7th
In this class we will learn how to distill the aromatic, volatile oils from plants to make hydrosols (floral waters). Learn the benefits of using a copper still for distillation as well as the stove-top method anyone can use at home. Students will bring home a 4 oz bottle of hydrosol we've made in class.
LOGISTICS: Each class runs for 4 hours and begins at 11am. All classes will be taught in Petaluma, most at Gathering Thyme. Class size is limited to 12 students. Register early to insure your space.
COST: Each class is $80 and includes handouts and take-home products we've made in class. Sign up for the series and receive a 10% discount.
